Genomic Analysis of Broad-Host-Range Enterobacteriophage Av-05

چکیده
Lytic bacteriophages have reemerged as an alternative for the control of pathogenic bacteria. However, the effective use of phage relies on appropriate genomic characterization. In this study, we report the genome of bacteriophage Av-05 and its sequence analysis, which has strong lytic activity against Escherichia coli O157:H7 strains and several Salmonella serotypes. The analysis revealed that the phage Av-05 genome consists of 120,938 bp, containing 209 putative open reading frames (ORFs) and 9 tRNAs.

متن کاملRevisiting the evolution of Mycobacterium bovis.
Though careful consideration has been placed towards genetic characterization of tubercle bacillus isolates causing disease in humans, those causing disease predominantly among wild and domesticated mammals have received less attention. In contrast to Mycobacterium tuberculosis, whose host range is largely specific to humans, M. bovis and "M bovis-like" organisms infect a broad range of animal ...

Background: Classical bacteriological detection of Brucella species from food, and environment is routinely carried out based on morphological and biochemical characteristics. However, for increasing specificity and sensitivity of species identification methods, development of a molecular assay is necessary that was main aim of this study. Methods: Panel of some reference strains belonging to ...
متن کاملMolecular phylogeny and morphology of four Ramularia species from Iran along with a checklist of ramularia-like taxa
The genus Ramularia includes important plant pathogens with worldwide distribution, commonly associated with leaf spot diseases on a broad range of plant hosts. Although these fungi are common in Iran, most of the species found to date have been identified on the basis of morphological characteristics, and DNA data are available for limited number of them. During our investigation of fungi asso...
متن کاملA broad-host-range, generalized transducing phage (SN-T) acquires 16S rRNA genes from different genera of bacteria.
Genomic analysis has revealed heterogeneity among bacterial 16S rRNA gene sequences within a single species; yet the cause(s) remains uncertain. Generalized transducing bacteriophages have recently gained recognition for their abundance as well as their ability to affect lateral gene transfer and to harbor bacterial 16S rRNA gene sequences. Here, we demonstrate the ability of broad-host-range, ...
